Christian Friends of New Americans welcomed a record 130 golfers to beautiful Greenbriar Hills Country Club for their eighth Annual CFNA Golf Benefit on Monday, October 12. All the golfers appreciated the sunshine and warm, albeit windy, weather as they took to the links for an enjoyable golf outing.

The Benefit had 31 sponsors, another event record. Proof also, that a global pandemic like Covid-19 cannot inhibit the generosity of those looking to help New Americans take the next steps in their faith journey, even as they settle into the St. Louis area

Because of Covid-19, things looked a little different this year. The golf carts were equipped with plexiglass dividers and an outside hospitality hour was enjoyed instead of an indoor dinner. During the hospitality hour, Board Chairman Al Buckman interviewed Lewi Jermiya about his experience as a New American. His heartfelt testimony exemplified how CFNA is reaching people with Christ’s love.

Donations and gifts continue to arrive, so a final result is not yet available. Still, the event was deemed a great success by those who participated or provided donations. In the words of Committee member Steve Pozaric, “We were really excited to try a new course and 130 golfers – a record number – got to enjoy a fantastic afternoon at Greenbriar Hills Country Club. We can’t wait to be back next year.” Indeed, several golfers offered unsolicited favorable comments regarding the overall appearance of the golf course.

A special thank you goes out to Greenbriar Hills Country Club and the 10 CFNA volunteers who staffed the registration area, beverage carts, and hole competitions. A special thank you also to Committee Chair, Carol Buckman, and all the committee members. The event could not have happened without these great friends!

We hope and pray next year will provide another opportunity to continue this tradition and thereby contribute to the on-going expansion of the wonderful ministry of Christian Friends of New Americans.
