CFNA Golf Event 2024

One of our favorite days of the year is the CFNA Golf Benefit – a day of golf, fellowship and fundraising to support the mission and ministry of CFNA. This year’s 12th Annual Golf Benefit was held on October 14 at Greenbriar Hills Country Club in Kirkwood. It was a crisp fall day with beautiful sunshine.

Twenty-six teams took to the golf course this year. After enjoying a box lunch and time to meet new or connect with old friends, teams teed off at noon. During the 18 holes of scramble play, participants were invited to partake in a putting challenge – the winner putted to within nine inches of the hole. There was also a longest drive challenge and three closest to the pin competitions. Mark Cannon, who has participated in the CFNA Golf Benefit for several years said, “I really enjoy the fellowship, getting to support the great ministry work at CFNA, and playing at Greenbriar Hills!”

The event was supported by eight CFNA staff and volunteers. We thank God for these faithful workers, because without their support, the event could not happen.

After golf, participants enjoyed a time of hospitality and then dinner. Entertainment was provided by Gentil Karangwa, a refugee who arrived in St. Louis in 2023 and has benefitted from the ministry of CFNA. Gentil sang a beautiful rendition of “Glorious Day” and said, “CFNA has helped me and my family a lot, especially since I got a driving lesson and passed the test. And they are paying much of the tuition for my brother Vincent and I, at Lutheran North Middle and High School. God bless you.” Those attending also heard from Charles Nshimiyimana, who received services from CFNA and is now giving back as an intern and volunteer.

Even though the event ended at 6:15, many people stayed for additional time to fellowship. We praise God for all of this and are already looking forward to next year’s Golf Benefit!
