CFNA Welcomes Yuria Bergt
/As I step into this new role as E-newsletter and Volunteer Coordinator, I cannot help but reflect on the ways in which God uses our gifts and experiences to bring His light to those around us.
I was first introduced to CFNA in the spring of 2022, two months into my gap semester of college. Swapping the formal classroom setting for another – this one with bright yellow walls – I found myself sitting across the table from a group of adults from numerous countries trying to learn their ABC’s. Little did I know that over the course of two years, those same strangers would become friends to share tea with and pray over as they dealt with life’s trials. These small, joy-led moments reminded me of how much the Lord delights when every nation and tribe comes together to serve and uplift one another.
In the summer of that same year, God shifted my focus from local ministry to advocating for the global church through an internship at International Christian Concern (ICC). I was able to see and embody God’s heart for His people – this time through advocacy work. As an intern, I worked with the Southeast Asia team to document incidents of persecution, write news reports, and contribute to a comprehensive report on religious freedom violations in China.
Crafting these reports built a solid foundation for my writing, which I hope to further develop as the E-newsletter editor. While “volunteer” will no longer be my official title at CFNA, I am excited to share stories of how God is faithfully tending to the needs of refugees here in Saint Louis. It is my hope that these newsletter articles inspire faith, joy, and action that embodies the Lord’s gentle heart.
As I close, I invite you to reflect this love through embracing Christ’s call to “do justly…to love mercy, and to walk humbly with…God.” (Micah 6:8)
