Meramec Community College Opens Doors
/“It was great” was the text message of one of the refugees who fled from Afghanistan a year ago. These refugees, including some with university degrees from Afghanistan, were all ears as they listened to MCC presenter, Leslie Schroeder on Saturday, September 17th. She discussed some of the more than 30 options in the five-week Accelerated Job Training program. Free training, during the day or evening, often with travel expenses, stipends, and job placement in well-paying jobs, is offered. Job possibilities span culinary positions, computer coding, commercial trucking, medical training, welding, and much more!
Six of the fourteen attendees signed up for a follow-up interview. MCC presenter, Leslie Schroeder responded, “I have already spoken to my supervisor and the Counselors. We are ready to assist anyone else in the programs we are offering by meeting at the Peace Center or even at their homes.”
CFNA is so thankful that we can help these brave young people who either served with our soldiers or have family members that served in Afghanistan. We are also so thankful for the job opportunities for which amputees can be trained. Most importantly, we are so thankful to have the opportunity to share Christ’s love in Word and deed with our amazing friends.
