Sharing The Light

[Jesus said,] “Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.” Matthew 5:15

Sensible people know that light is for everybody. If you are living and working in the same house, of course, you can share the light! In fact, it would be strange if you didn’t. Hoarding light is ridiculous. You want to put that light high.

Hoarding the Gospel is also ridiculous. We live in a very big house we call America, and those of us who belong to Jesus know that He is the Light of the World. So how wonderful it is that we can share that light, his light, with others in our house—others who have come just recently to join us.

What can you do? Everything starts with prayer. Ask the Lord to bring his light to people who haven’t yet had the chance to see it and to trust in him as their Savior. Ask the Lord to show you, too, what you can do personally to share the Good News with newcomers. He will lead you to ways you can lift up his light, putting it on a stand where it will give light to everybody you know.
