CFNA Golf Benefit
/The 11th annual CFNA Golf Benefit was held on October 9 at Greenbriar Hills Country Club. It was a beautiful day for 27 teams to compete, fellowship, and most importantly raise funds for the ministry of Christian Friends of New Americans. One golfer, Jerry Wendt, who has participated in the event since its inception, said: “We support what CFNA has done and continues to do in service to the opportunity to reach out to people who need to be supported in a myriad of ways while being focused on sharing the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Along with the 108 players, seven volunteers worked to set up, greet players, drive drink carts, and support the events of the day. A special thank you goes out to the Golf Committee Chairs, Mike Albers and Joe & Joanie Harwell who volunteered many hours in advance to make the event a success.
After playing 18 holes, teams gathered for a delicious dinner and a short program. Cathy Stanish (daughter of Executive Director Stanish Stanley) interviewed Rhoda Mapenzi. Rhoda was highlighted as CFNA’s New American of the Month in the September edition of Enews. In that article, Rhoda emphasized the impact CFNA has had on her and her family. “America and CFNA are special to me and my family. They have given me an education and new friends and have provided us with a new home.” Rhoda also entertained with a short song.
The CFNA Golf Benefit has become a fall tradition for several who participate year after year. Jacob Mohnke, who has played every year since 2016, said, “I keep playing because CFNA is one of the best organizations I’ve had the pleasure to know, and golf is one of the greatest games. It just seems like a good idea to put them together.” Well said!
The 12th annual CFNA Golf Benefit is scheduled for October 14, 2023.
