Trivia Night 2023

CFNA welcomed 200 trivia players to Webster Gardens Lutheran Church on April 1 for the 16th annual Trivia Night and Silent Auction.  It’s the first time the event has been held in person since 2019 and with 25 tables the atmosphere was energetic and joyful.  Sue Madden said, “It was a full house and lots of fun being had!” Trivia is as much a “friend-raiser” as it is a fund-raiser, and this proved to be true as CFNA connected with 75 new friends through this event.

The evening started with a powerful video highlighting just one instance of how CFNA has impacted the lives of many Afghan refugees who have come to St. Louis since the Taliban took over in 2021.  Executive Director Stanish Stanley and our good friend Joanie Harwell led the evening as MCs, reading questions and answers, calling out attendance prizes, and encouraging people to bid on silent auction items.

Those who attended were blessed with the singing of some of CFNA’s after-school tutoring students who did double duty as volunteers at the event.  Overall, 25 volunteers worked to make the evening a success, including CFNA staff people, students, and friends.  One of our ESL volunteers, John Tilden, also helped at Trivia night.  John said, “I volunteered for Trivia night to support CFNA and the good work they do. My favorite part of the evening was serving with my 7-year-old daughter.”

The event was sponsored by KFUO Radio, All-Access Interpreters, Thrivent, and an anonymous donor.  A special thank you also goes out to TriviaNights.net for posting information about this event at no charge.  And we so appreciate Webster Gardens for allowing us to use their space – they have been a partner with CFNA in this event for many years.

Overall, the evening was a great success.  We thank all who participated, even as we also gratefully acknowledge our Lord’s presence among us.
