Where Are They Now?

Bethlehem and Dawit Mulat started at Word of Life in Fall 2011 with support from CFNA’s scholarship program; Bethlehem was in 7th grade and Dawit was in 5th grade. After graduating from Word of Life, both went to Lutheran High South. During their high school years, they were active in Timothy’s youth group and both went to the National Youth Gathering.

Bethlehem went to UMSL for her undergraduate degree and has now completed a Masters degree in criminal justice with a minor in Spanish.  She is currently working as a legal assistant at a downtown St. Louis law firm. She is gaining some professional experience while trying to decide whether to pursue a career in the FBI or go on for a PhD.

Dawit will graduate in December from Lindenwood University with a double major in political science and international relations.  He is currently working as an intake paralegal with OnderLaw Firm in Webster Groves, anticipating going on to law school.  Building on volunteer work he did several summers ago with CFNA that brought young people to Lutheran South for an elaborate summer camp experience, he now volunteers with IHELP (Immigrant Home Learning Program).  He has been working with an Afghan family, focusing particularly on tutoring the father in English.  He was able to help the gentleman get a better-paying job.

Dawit spoke at the large July 4th, 2022 citizenship ceremony in St. Louis, invited by Judge Schelp, a member of Concordia, Kirkwood and a CFNA supporter himself.
